Tongues of Fire
22.02 - 05.05

Kunsthall Trondheim’s group exhibition Tongues of Fire brings together artists who explore how flames have served as agents of change across time and space. Through the mediums of tapestry, video, computer simulation, sculpture, photography, and drawing, the exhibition contemplates fire’s many physical facets—its light, its heat, its other phenomena. Simultaneously, the artworks kindle reflection on broader themes such as wonder, intimacy, and passion, and the urgent concerns of war, repair, and climate.

Participating artists

Anna-Kaisa Ant-Wuorinen, John Gerrard, Noémie Goudal, Lungiswa Gqunta, Sin Wai Kin, Agnieszka Kurant, Ana Mendieta, Tuda Muda, Tuan Andrew Nguyen, Gala Porras-Kim, The Atlas Group in collaboration with Walid Raad, Hannah Ryggen and Thu Van Tran.

The exhibition is structured around several different thematic groups of works. One of them deals with the impact of house fires on the individual and the community. This group includes Anna-Kaisa Ant-Wuorinen’s sculptural installation with objects from when her own house burned down.

The exhibition is on view between 22 February – 5 May 2024.
