Oulu Art Museum’s Kirjo (“Spectrum”) exhibition brings together contemporary art, crafts and Sámi crafts from the Nordic countries and Sápmi.
The exhibition is inspired by the question: “How can we live more sustainably as part of the biosphere, the diverse community on Earth?” The works weave together microscopic observations and cosmic narratives, seek connections with ancestors, and carry hope for the future. They deal with trauma and celebrate the diversity of life and its constant cycle. Fourteen artists from the Nordic countries and Sápmi will participate, and works by local artists will also be on display.
Craft is seen as a broad and evolving phenomenon. The exhibition includes works created digitally and through movement. Many of the artists in the exhibition combine contemporary art and craft methods.
The exhibition is on view between 30 April–17 August 2025
The opening will be celebrated at the Oulu Art Museum on Wednesday 30 April from 17:00 to 19:00. The event is open to the public and free of charge.
Oulu Art Museum is mostly accessible by wheelchair. Read more about accessibility on the museum’s homepage.
