Graphical seminar announcmenth

Coordinated by Post Theatre Collective, the seminar will discuss strategies for increasing the visibility of diverse languages on stage at Inter Arts Center in Malmö.

Throughout the Nordic region, multilingualism is an integral part of daily life for many people. The use of multiple languages in everyday interactions is not only common but often essential. However, this rich linguistic diversity is rarely reflected in the performing arts. This limited representation means that the multilingual reality of many Nordic residents is not adequately reflected on stage. The seminar ”Breaking multilingual silence” will discuss strategies on increasing visibility of diverse languages on stage.

The seminar will consist of keynote speeches from established researchers within the field, a panel discussion with practitioners of multilingualism as well as a workshop session. It is led by Dr. Vanja Hamidi Isacson (SE) and Director David Kozma (FI).

Keynote speakers:

Kasia Lech, Associate Professor Global Performance History Faculty of Humanities Theatre Studies, Amsterdam university.

Carla Jonsson, Professor in Educational Work. Department of Language Studies, Umeå University.

When: Friday, 5 December 2025, at 9:30–17:00

Where: Inter Arts Center, 4th floor, Bergsgatan 29, Malmö.

Register: The seminar is open to everyone but requires a registration. Please register on the Inter Arts Center’s  webpage.
