Meet our new intern, Olli!

We are happy to welcome Olli Hietanen as our new intern. His internship has just begun, and he will be with us until the end of December 2025.

In December, Olli graduated with a Master’s degree in Master in Media Practices from Volda University College and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Media Production from Arcada University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki (2020). He lived in Møre og Romsdal for 2.5 years during his master’s studies and also participated in an Erasmus+ exchange in the Netherlands. This is Olli’s second time moving to Norway, but this time, he is based in the heart of Oslo.

With over 12 years of experience in film and media production, Olli has worked as a producer, director, and freelance assistant director on feature films and TV series. He also has experience in project management and coordination. His previous internships include Lofoten Film Collective, Yle News and Current Affairs, Yellow Film & TV, and Svenska Teatern. During his studies, Olli produced four documentary films, and his latest work, Nordic Nocturne, is set to premiere at festivals in 2025.

In his spare time, Olli enjoys hiking in the mountains, painting, visiting museums and art exhibitions, as well as filming and photography — a passion he truly thrives on!

How does it feel to start your internship in Oslo?

“It’s incredibly exciting to be back in Norway and immerse myself in Nordic cooperation. It’s a unique opportunity to build valuable contacts in the Norwegian arts and media industry.”

What motivated you to join FINNO?

“My passion for art production, along with my experience of working in both Finland and Norway, makes FINNO the perfect place to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.”

What do you hope to gain from this internship?

“I’m looking forward to deepening my knowledge in production and cultural exchange, building a strong network, and contributing to the vibrant cultural exchange between Finland and Norway. I am particularly interested in learning more about the northern regions and their key actors through the program and the latest initiatives by the Finnish-Norwegian Cultural Institute.”

Welcome to the team, Olli!

The internship is funded by a grant from the Swedish Cultural Foundation, which provides university and college students, as well as recent graduates, the opportunity to gain work experience through international internships abroad.
