This week, we welcomed a  new intern to our institute. Aletta Kemppainen has joined us as an EDUFI intern and will be part of our team for the next six months.

Aletta graduated as a Master of Philosophy with a major in Comparative Literature from the University of Tampere in the spring of 2025. Aletta has experience of communication from multiple disciplines: “I was a part of the editors-in-chief team of Rakkauden Wappuradio during the  2024-2025 season. I got experience of a live production that spans over multiple weeks. I also have experience in inclusive communications from being the chair of the diversity committee at Lounais-Suomi scouting district for two years.”

During her free time Aletta likes to be in nature, read books and do handicrafts.

How does it feel to move to Oslo and begin your internship?

“The move went smoothly and everything already feels quite natural. This is my first time in southern Norway. Until now, I’ve mostly spent my summers in Finnmark. I believe the internship will provide first-row seats to the culturally rich capital.”

What motivated you to apply at FINNO?

“I was reading the university’s newsletter and saw the ad for EDUFI-internships. A friend of mine had done an internship at Tartto and encouraged me to apply. FINNO drew my attention because of the call for northern samí speakers. As a Sámi myself, I was excited about the opportunity to collaborate with Sámi artists and projects.”

What are your expectations for the internship?

“I’m eagerly awaiting for new experiences and learning from my coworkers. The internship at the institute offers a new view of the culture industry. I am especially motivated by the chance of working in a multicultural environment. My previous experiences of working with culturally sensitive and inclusive communication will be useful in my internship.”
